A senior and specialist barrister, solicitor or retired judge presides over the hearing process, considering submissions from the legal representatives and giving an indication of what the likely outcome would be if a case proceeded to Trial.  The decision/advice of the evaluator is not binding, although couples frequently settle as a result of the experience.
