From Road Traffic Accident to Recovery: Janice’s Inspiring Story
Video Transcript: Janice’s Story
Adam Dyl, Partner, Anthony Gold
Janice suffered very serious injuries in a road traffic accident, which is likely to have a lasting impact on her. The goal is to secure a sum in compensation that will assist her in the treatment process and rehabilitation generally, and also then to pay for any lasting effects of the injury.
Janice Jones, Client
I broke my femur and I broke 10 ribs, so I had two collapsed lungs. I broke my collarbone and my shoulder too, so they put me on a ventilator. If it had gone over my heart, my head — I was just so lucky.
Early rehabilitation
Adam Dyl, Partner, Anthony Gold
The objective in a serious injury case is to work very closely with the treating team to ensure a good level of rehabilitation early.
Victoria Tomkins, Case Manager
At the time I started working with Janice, she was due to be discharged from the NHS ward. Because of Anthony Gold’s involvement, she was able to access inpatient rehabilitation — and because of that, Janice has progressed so much in her rehabilitation goals. It’s really evident to see the progress from the point she would have been discharged from the ward to where she’s at now.
Janice Jones, Client
Luckily, I’ve got to come here, to the Royal Bucks. They’ve got me walking today — I walked independently for the first time. It was really, really special. The amount of improvement is amazing.
Intensive therapy
Hayden Baer, Lead Physiotherapist
Janice has been an inpatient here for two or three months, and her day-to-day involves four sessions of therapy a day with us. It’s quite intensive.
Liat Vives, Specialist Physiotherapist
She’s had hydrotherapy and FES — functional electrical stimulation. She received dryland exercises, which is one-to-one work for walking, when she started with her gait. We’ve also done gait analysis, which has been very important in her journey too.
Adjusting to a new reality
Adam Dyl, Partner, Anthony Gold
After she comes home from hospital, she’ll have to adapt to essentially a new reality — but one where she’s supported in making that adjustment.
Janice Jones, Client
Private care is something special. I’m very lucky that Anthony Gold can provide it for me, really. Without that, I don’t know where I’d have been.
Hayden Baer, Lead Physiotherapist
Knowing Janice, she is incredibly determined and incredibly motivated. I see her continuing her rehab for quite some time, to get herself back as close as possible to where she was previously, compared to where she was just a few months ago.
Looking ahead
Adam Dyl, Partner, Anthony Gold
Through this process, I’ve seen her personality really show through in the various aspects of her recovery. She’s incredibly positive and optimistic in respect of her recovery.
Janice Jones, Client
Anthony Gold have really been there for me. They stepped in so fast, really quickly, and they’ve got me to somewhere that’s supportive. They’ve enabled me to come here and feel really looked after.
Victoria Tomkins, Case Manager
Janice’s rehab journey has not been easy, but it’s been improved by the hard work put in by the rehab therapy team, Anthony Gold Solicitors, and the hard work that Janice has put in herself.
