Desmond House residents claim for poor housing conditions

Anthony Gold Solicitors have been instructed by residents of Desmond House in Barnet to bring legal proceedings against their landlord, Metropolitan Thames Valley, after three years of badly managed building works to replace cladding and windows left the residents:
- With freezing cold flats and unaffordable energy bills due to the lack of insulation
- With severe mould growth on the uninsulated walls
- With badly fitted windows letting in draughts
- Suffering repeated leaks into their flats
- Enduring scaffolding outside their flats, noise, dirt and disruption for an unreasonable length of time
- With no access to their balconies during lockdown.
Partner Giles Peaker and solicitor Eleanor Solomon say:
“While Metropolitan were right to take steps to replace the hazardous cladding at Desmond House, the works should never have taken this long. The residents have had to face disruption to their lives and privacy, and extremely poor and hazardous conditions in their homes for three years as a result. We are very pleased to act for the residents to ensure Metropolitan make their homes fit for human habitation, complete the works to a decent standard without additional delay and compensate them adequately for the poor conditions they have been forced to live in.”
