Claims for urological injuries

I am acting for a client who sustained urological injuries following a road traffic accident. My client was travelling as a rear seat passenger in a vehicle. She was wearing a seatbelt.
The driver was driving at speed and refused to slow down despite being asked to do so by all the passengers in the vehicle. As a result of his speed and dangerous manner of driving, the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with the nearside kerb which in turn caused the vehicle to violently cross to the offside of the road and collide with two parked vehicles. An ambulance was called and my client was taken to hospital.
My client sustained a number of injuries. However, the most significant injury was to her bladder which has given rise to urinary tract dysfunction, urinary tract infections and urinary sphincter dysfunction. My client is currently undergoing further assessments before a final prognosis can be given.
Urology is an area of medicine which covers the management of conditions affecting the bladder and urinary system. When a client develops unexpected urological problems after an accident we know that that this may be difficult to discuss and that this type of injury can have a significant effect on your everyday life which can cause embarrassment.
As with my current case, we will use specialist medical experts to advise on your case. The expert’s report will identify your current condition and also comment on how any you are likely to be affected in the future. Urological treatment can be expensive. Therefore, should we obtain an admission from the insurers we will look at recovering the costs of any private treatment or assistance you may require in the future.
It is important to consider instructing a solicitor who has specialist knowledge of the legal and medical issues involved in your claim and who can have a sympathetic and sensitive understanding of how you have been affected.
