I am divorcing and I am trying to trace old pensions

There are many reasons to lose track of pensions.  Maybe you have changed jobs on a number of occasions during your working life and cannot recall whether your past employment was pensionable or whether pensions were transferred into other schemes.  Perhaps you have moved house several times and failed to advise your pension provider of your new address.  Maybe you have lost your paperwork or perhaps your pension provider has merged with another or the scheme name has changed.

Pension savings are a key asset for consideration on divorce.  Pensions may be divided when a relationship ends and couples are obliged to disclose their pension benefits as part of the financial disclosure process.

A new DWP website has been launched by the Pension Tracing Service to help trace pensions even when the contact details of the provider are unknown.  This a free online service here.
