COVID-19 and your job
COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on all our lives and for the most part we have all accepted the consequences with calm resignation. We are doing what we know to be best for everyone else. The same care and concern is being shown by many employers towards their staff; even as the threat to the business is recognised, most employers are also deeply aware of the difficulties faced by their employees and are doing their best to mitigate those.
But not all employers are the same and some may be unscrupulous. Moreover, with so much being reported about the government schemes for businesses, it often feels that individuals have been overlooked and it may be difficult to know for sure what your own rights may be.
Many who have been dismissed or have been furloughed are uncertain and those still working may also be facing problems.
So, the purpose of this series is to flag some of the common issues individual workers are facing and examine what rights they have.
The week’s content is as follows:
Monday – Health & Safety
Tuesday – Furlough – The Basics
Wednesday – My Rights if I don’t want to Furlough
Thursday – Furlough – Sickness and Holiday
Friday – The Week in Review
