Thinking about separation or divorce during and after Christmas
Christmas is a time that many families come together. Sadly, this can be a difficult time for many who find that the festive period is a trigger for existing relationship issues such as financial strains that become more problematic due to Christmas spending, domestic violence/aggressive behaviour that become more prevalent due to the increased amount of time you are spending together or a partner/spouse who has increased their drinking which exacerbates previous alcohol/substance misuse issues.
Should I get divorce advice now or wait until after Christmas?
It is never too early to get separation or divorce advice. The advice you obtain will be confidential and your partner/spouse does not need to be made aware that you have sought or been given advice. When you are considering separating or divorcing it is important that you seek legal advice at an early stage so that you are well informed and understand the wide range of options available to you. There is no rush and you can always come back whenever you feel ready to take the next step.
At Anthony Gold, we first offer a fixed fee meeting with you to discuss your options, provide you with initial advice specific to your circumstances and advise you on the best way to move forward.
We also have a number of qualified mediators within our department who can assist you to divorce or separate amicably. Going through a separation or a divorce does not have to be an expensive process, nor does it have to involve lengthy contested court proceedings. Many couples are able to reach an agreement between them with the help of qualified lawyers and mediators.
If you think you may need some initial advice, now or in the near future, then please do not hesitate to contact a member of our experienced team.
