Amy Wedgwood

Amy Wedgwood joined Anthony Gold in 2012 as a paralegal in the Court of Protection team and qualified as a solicitor in 2016. She holds an LLM in Human Rights with a focus on access to healthcare and other socioeconomic rights, reflecting her deep understanding of the intersection between law, healthcare, and social justice. 

Ranked as an “Associate to Watch” by Chambers and Partners, Amy is recognised for her expertise in clinical negligence matters, particularly those involving complex and sensitive claims. Working closely with partner Dr. Jock Mackenzie, she is integral to the success of Anthony Gold’s clinical negligence team, where she manages a diverse caseload alongside contributing to high profile and complex cases run by Dr. Jock Mackenzie. Known for her empathetic yet tenacious approach, Amy’s clients and peers alike value her dedication, insight, and skill in achieving outstanding results. 

Amy has expertise in cases involving delayed diagnosis of cancer, birth trauma, adult and child brain injuries, surgical injuries, and private healthcare claims. 

She is skilled in providing support at inquests, ensuring families navigate the process with confidence and clarity. 

Amy has extensive experience in high-value and intricate clinical negligence claims, often involving multi-disciplinary medical teams, private healthcare, multiple Defendants and issues of consent.  

Some of her notable settlements include: 

• Securing a seven-figure settlement for a client who suffered an iatrogenic bowel injury following hernia repair surgery, resulting in a permanent stoma and systemic sepsis. 

• Securing a six-figure sum for a client who suffered an iatrogenic bladder injury during her caesarean section.  

She has worked on Sreported cases, such as :  

Kennedy v Frankel [2019] EWHC 106 (QB): she worked alongside Dr. Jock Mackenzie on this pivotal reported case, showcasing her ability to navigate challenging legal disputes effectively. 

Amy is frequently asked to speak for the Birth Trauma Society, sharing insights and raising awareness on key issues affecting patients and families. 

She was a former junior panel member for the Sepsis Trust, contributing to the organisation’s mission to improve outcomes for those affected by sepsis. 

She has contributed to internal mentoring and training initiatives for 0–6 year PQE solicitors across Anthony Gold, sharing her expertise to support career development and inspire emerging talent. She regularly provides career presentations to students at the prestigious Tiffin Girls’ School inspiring the next generation of legal professionals. In addition, she was the former Chair of the Association of Women Solicitors (2019), championing diversity and inclusion within the legal profession. She has also authored articles for PI Focus.
