David Wedgwood and Alexandra Knipe Appointed to the OPG Deputyship Panel

We are proud to announce that David Wedgwood and Alexandra Knipe, Partners at Anthony Gold Solicitors, have been appointed to the Office of the Public Guardian’s (OPG) Panel of Professional Deputies for the South East of England.
This is a significant recognition of their expertise and long-standing commitment to acting in the best interests of clients who lack capacity and require professional deputyship support.
The Panel of Professional Deputies is a carefully selected group of solicitors approved by the Court of Protection and the OPG. Panel deputies are appointed in cases where there is no suitable family member or friend able to act, and the involvement of an experienced, independent professional is necessary. You can view the full list of panel deputies on the GOV.UK website.
Alexandra Knipe is a Partner and Joint Head of the Court of Protection and has specialised in Court of Protection work for over 20 years. As a founding member of Anthony Gold’s Court of Protection department, Alexandra leads a team dedicated to supporting individuals who have sustained serious injury through accidents, clinical negligence, or mismanagement at birth. She acts in complex, high-value cases and is frequently instructed as an expert witness in contentious proceedings.
David Wedgwood is Joint Head of the Court of Protection and Head of the Civil Litigation departments at Anthony Gold. He brings a rare combination of legal expertise and social insight, having previously trained as a social worker for people with disabilities. David is regularly instructed by the Court and the Official Solicitor in complex cases involving legal disputes.
These appointments highlight Anthony Gold’s reputation as a leading firm in the field of Court of Protection law. We remain committed to providing expert, compassionate and practical support to those who require professional deputyship services, a commitment reflected in our Court of Protection team’s Band 1 ranking in the 2026 Chambers UK Guide. This top-tier recognition acknowledges the exceptional skill, dedication and client care consistently demonstrated by the team.
