“Mediation can be a quicker, less adversarial, and more cost-effective option for many people if they can reach an agreement. This can result in better outcomes for separating families and, more importantly, for any children involved in these disputes.” (Ministry of Justice consultation 2023)

The mediators at Anthony Gold are committed to the very highest standards. Several of them have had decades in practice and even been involved in the development of the profession. Overall government statistics reveal that settlement occurs in 77% of all cases, but our experience may be higher than that.

The most important benefit of mediation is that it is a process that gives you more ownership of the decisions arrived at, because you are actively involved in them. You are both supported by a skilled mediator who knows how to help you move through sticking points.

The mediators all have backgrounds as family lawyers, so are also well placed to guide you on issues such as child arrangements, child maintenance benefits, tax, pensions, wills and property. The mediator will help you to negotiate a reasonable and, most importantly, sustainable agreement.

Separation cannot be pain-free but it can be less adversarial if you are supported by a mediator, helping you focus on an agreed future with an informed view of how to get there.

Mediators use a range of skills and techniques to assist the process and are particularly alive to any power or knowledge imbalance. We can also provide tailored legal information, though participants are also free to seek some subjective advice from a solicitor at any time too.

We will also discuss how the forum will be adapted to your needs. This can include having lawyers present during the process (hybrid mediation) and/or financial advisors, financial neutrals and family consultants.

You can also choose to have mediation online or in person. In certain cases, shuttle mediation may take place. This involves mediation conducted with the participants in separate rooms (virtual or real) for some or all of the process: the mediator moves between you to assist negotiations.

The mediation process starts with participants having individual meetings with the mediator. This gives us all the chance to see if mediation is right for you and, if so, how the process might be adapted to your individual circumstances.
