Court of Protection (COP) Conversations Podcast: drafting expert witness reports on future deputyship costs

Anthony Gold Solicitors are delighted to announce that the sixth episode of our Court of Protection Conversations series is now live.

On Friday 9th April 2021, our ‘COP Conversation: drafting expert witness reports on future deputyship costs’ episode went live. Host, Partner and joint Head of Court of Protection Department, Alexandra Knipe was joined by guest speaker Christine Bunting from specialist Court of Protection law firm Hyphen Law.

Christine is a professional Court of Protection Deputy and a Director of Hyphen Law which specialises in property and affairs deputyships and personal injury trusts. With many years of experience acting as a Deputy, Christine’s invaluable insight and knowledge surrounding the likely costs of running a property and affairs deputyship provides expert depth to the conversation.

This COP Conversation sees Alexandra and Christine discussing topics surrounding drafting expert witness reports, exploring a number of factors and information that is required to help support the drafting process. The podcast looks at the different considerations between future planning in adult cases vs child injury, how to navigate and manage complex family dynamics and expectations, accommodation and more.

Reflecting on the podcast, Christine said: “I was delighted to be asked to take part in this podcast. In recent years, expert witness reports have become an intrinsic part of what I do, in addition to my deputyship work. It’s fantastic that Anthony Gold is leading the way in speaking about the crucial role expert witness reports play.”

These conversations are vital to understanding the planning process and detailed considerations that go into preparing complex statements for expert witness reports, helping to produce a report that accurately portrays what the future charges of a client might be.

Commenting on the podcast, Alexandra said: “It is so important to have solid expert evidence that really portrays the needs and challenges of an individual client.  Christine clearly approaches her report writing with meticulous detail, brining all the practical benefits and insight that come with being an active Deputy, alongside her expert witness work.
