Developing Co-Parenting Within Mediation and Collaborative cases – Bridging Family Law, Mediation and Behavioural Change.

Join us for a focused and practical session examining how practitioners can better support separated parents in building sustainable co-parenting relationships within mediation and collaborative law settings.

This session, led by Marcie Shaoul and David (full bio/role to be inserted as required), will explore how a structured co-parenting model can be introduced, discussed and embedded in non-court dispute resolution frameworks. The emphasis will be on equipping family law professionals with effective tools to help parents communicate more constructively and keep their children’s needs at the centre of decision-making.

What the session will cover

Participants will:

  1. Develop a clear understanding of effective co-parenting, moving beyond logistical arrangements to a model grounded in emotional awareness, cooperation and behavioural alignment.

  2. Identify the common barriers that undermine successful co-parenting after separation, including communication breakdown, unresolved conflict and differing parenting styles.

  3. Explore proven strategies drawn from mediation, collaborative practice and behavioural change theory that help parents shift entrenched patterns and rebuild a functional parental partnership.

  4. Recognise the skills and mindset required for professionals to support and guide co-parents within mediation and collaborative contexts, promoting a non-adversarial, child-focused approach.

  5. Leave with a practical toolkit of conversation frameworks, prompts and reflection questions that can be implemented immediately with clients.
